With summer approaching rather rapidly, I feel like it's time to start preparing in certain ways. I thought I'd write a quick post on 10 of the things that I'm gonna try and do to make sure I have the best summer possible. I really enjoy these kinds of posts as not only do they help other people with their own goals (well I hope so anyway) but they also help me to set myself some too. Here are my very own tips...
REFRESH YOUR SUMMER WARDROBE
Put those wooly jumpers away and get those dresses, crop tops and bikinis out. When it comes to summer fashion, I definitely prefer it to any other season so I always end up going on crazy shopping sprees. I just love looking in my wardrobe and seeing it full of bright colours and pretty little tops.
BOOK A HOLIDAY/WEEKEND AWAY!
Whether it's with your loved one, your family or the girls.. I think every human needs a holiday at least once every couple of years. It's amazing to just get away from any stress and relax by a pool or beach whilst sipping cocktails.
CREATE A SUMMER PLAYLIST ON ITUNES/SPOTIFY
This is something I do every year without fail. There are so many songs that make me excited for the summer and lift my mood whenever I listen to them. I don't use Spotify but I always tend to create a playlist on my iTunes with all of my current favourites to listen to while I'm getting ready.
TAKE LOTS OF PICTURES
Make memories. As I've mentioned a couple of times before, I literally take pictures of everything and there are just so many more beautiful picture opportunities in the summer. I'm always taking pictures of pretty flowers and thousands of holiday pictures (I think I embarrass my boyfriend sometimes).
PLAN FUN DAYS OUT
(e.g summer walks, picnics, pub lunches, bbqs and cocktails at someone's house or even the beach).
WAKE UP EARLIER
Make the most out of the warm weather. You'll feel so much more productive if you get up, get ready and go out. I always feel like I've wasted my day if I stay in bed too late in the summer. I would also recommend to buy a fan to prevent those sleepless nights. I think the one downfall with the summer (other than wasps) is being boiling hot in bed and not being able to fall asleep. Even the one leg in and one leg out of the covers trick never seems to cool you down so buy a fan to help you relax.
TAKE CARE OF YOUR SKIN
Drink lots of water to stay hydrated, wear suncream if you're planning on going out in the hot weather and buy a fresh scented and hydrating tinted moisturiser/foundation to give yourself that healthy summer glow. One of my favourites is the Bourjois healthy mix foundation as it smells like apricots, melon and apple all mixed into one which just reminds me of holidays.
EAT LOTS OF FRUIT TO KEEP YOUR BODY FEELING HEALTHY
I'm not a huge fan of fruit but I do make much more of an effort in the summer as I'd be pretty much living off bbq food otherwise. If you're the same as me, I find it so much easier to mix it all together in a smoothie which is not only amazingly good for you but they're also so refreshing in the hot weather. I'm definitely gonna make a conscious effort to learn some recipes.
Go for a run in the evening, go swimming or for a walk a couple of nights a week. It's always more of a struggle to keep up with activities such as working out at the gym when it's boiling hot, but that's not to say that you can't replace it with other activities.
TREAT YOURSELF TO SOME NEW BEAUTY PRODUCTS
I always look forward to the coral and pink lipstick shades and blushers taking over the shelves in the summer. I'm not saying you need to spend huge amounts of money but every girl deserves to treat herself to a couple of little beauty bits every so often and I think summer is a great excuse to do so. Topshop are one of my favourite brands when it comes to summery nail varnishes, lipsticks etc.. (not too pricey either).
What summer tips would you add to mine? Have you done any of these things yet?
