I'm a massive Autumn lover for so many reasons... The chunky jumpers, the long coats & boots, fluffy socks, cosy evenings, hot chocolates, pumpkin candles, neutral lipstick shades and most importantly the beginning of the Christmas countdown *hearts in eyes face*. As much as I love the summer and having a tan, I'm definitely a winter baby! So, as I've been feeling that whole Autmunal vibe recently, I decided to try out a seasonal makeup look over the weekend and I thought I'd share what products I used to create it.
First of all, I prepped my skin with my favourite moisturiser which is currently the Body Shop Glow Boosting Moisturiser (full review here) and then went straight onto the foundation. I very rarely use a primer as I haven't yet found one that I feel makes a difference to me but if you have any recommendations, please let me know in the comments below! My all time favourite foundation is the NARS Sheer Glow (i'm currently using the shade Fuji which is a little too light so bronzer is very important within this look). I then popped some of the Collection Lasting Perfection concealer on under my eyes and blended it in with the same brush as I used to apply my foundation. Lastly, I popped some of the Mac Mineralize Skinfinish powder in Medium Golden all over my face which just helped towards that flawless finish.
EYES & BROWS
For my eyebrows, I used the Benefit Cosmetics Brow Zings in the shade medium which I'm absolutely loving at the moment! The tiny application brush that comes with it has a rounded edge which makes creating that brow arch so much easier. Moving onto the eyes, I grabbed my Zoeva Cosmetics Cocoa Blend palette and went for the shade 'Substitute For Love' on my eyelids as it just adds that tiny bit of colour keeping my eyelids looking lovely and neutral. I've also been loving 'Subtle Blend' and 'Pure Ganache' at the moment for those days where I'm wanting to add some gold to my Autumnal eye looks. For my eyelashes, I added some of my favourite Fleur De Force lashes (in Fleur and Fabulous) and a small amount of the Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara on the top and bottom. I finished the look by lining my eyes with the Collection Fast Stroke liquid eyeliner (my holy grail) on the top lids, adding a reasonable sized wing to make my eyes look bigger. I wanted to keep the bottom of my eyes as natural as possible so just thoroughly blended a tiny amount of Infusion (the shimmery dark brown shade) underneath the water line.
For my cheeks, I decided to go for a little contour using the Anastasia Beverly Hills contour kit in the shade medium to tan. I actually bought this about 6 months ago and for some reason hadn't been brave enough to try it out yet, which is why I was so excited for this part! The medium to tan palette has some really really dark shades that are way too dark for me (i didn't realise when I was ordering) but there are a couple of lighter ones that are perfect for my skin tone at the moment. I didn't go through the whole contour process as I'm absolutely rubbish at that, so I just blended some of the product into the hollows of my cheeks to create that defined and visible cheek bone look. I then paired it up with my all time favourite highlighter which is Mac's Soft and Gentle... It is the most sparkly and amazing champagne gold highlighter which looks gorgeous on the apples of the cheeks. As I mentioned before, bronzer is the most important part of this look as I'm quite tanned at the moment and my foundation is too light, so I dusted the Benefit Cosmetics Hoola bronzer all over my face which also made the contouring look a lot more natural too.
Now for my favourite part! I completed the whole look with a combination the lipstick in Brave and the lip liner in Half Red; which are 2 of my all time Mac favourites. Brave is just such a gorgeous mauve shade which looks amazing when paired up with the Soar or Half Red lip liner. I usually go for Soar, but I decided to line my lips with Half Red this time as it is more of a berry red - which as we all know, Autumn is the prime season for berry red lips! I just absolutely love everything about these 2 together as not only do my lips look fuller, but the fact that Brave is a satin shade too means that it stays on for so much longer.
