When it comes to choosing the right skincare, there are so many different factors to consider. It's so easy to get caught up in the hype around products that work for others, but that doesn't always mean they'll work for you. Getting to know your skin can be a trial and error process but I think it's important to be able to distinguish those products that stand out as making a difference to you personally. I thought I'd share a few products that are currently playing a big part in my daily routine.
AURELIA MIRACLE CLEANSER*: Grumpy looking skin is a real issue for me so I'm always on the look out for a cleansing product that will do the job at removing my makeup as well as brightening my complexion at the same time. A new addition to my routine is one from Aurelia, which has very quickly become one of my skincare staples. It has an incredibly lightweight and creamy consistency that isn't too aggressive and leaves the skin feeling hydrated and silky smooth, as well as removing any impurities and traces of makeup. I find there are always better results when using a muslin cloth to remove cleansers like this as it will do the extra task of buffing away at any dead skin cells, resulting in a brighter and dewy looking complexion.
THE DAY TIME MOISTURISER
ORIGINS GIN-ZING ENERGY BOOSTING MOISTURISER: I highly doubt that I'll ever stop raving about this product. It's very rare that I introduce something into my skincare routine that instantly feels like it's doing what it says on the tin. It not only revitalises and completely wakes up dry/dehydrated skin, but it also leaves my complexion looking healthy and glowing, which makes it perfect for no makeup days too. Containing skin boosters such as Panax Ginseng and coffee bean which are great for jumpstarting hydration levels, this is the ideal product to use for tired skin in the mornings. It leaves the skin feeling incredibly smooth and energised and has really made a difference to my AM routine. If you're not a fan of citrus scents, this may not be the right product for you, but if you are, I highly recommend you give this a try.
THE NIGHT TIME MOISTURISER
ORIGINS MINERAL-ENRICHED RENEWAL CREAM: Another Origins staple of mine is the mineral enriched renewal cream. As mentioned above, dull looking skin is a big issue of mine, so this product really helps towards a healthier looking complexion. It has a thick, creamy consistency in comparison to GinZing's gel like formula so it does take a little while longer to soak into the skin, but that makes it an ideal overnight product to apply before bed. Again, this contains more skin beneficial products such as Vitamins C, E and H and aromas that help towards a good night sleep as well as getting rid of any dead layers. I always wake up feeling really refreshed and clean after using this.
THE OVERNIGHT DETOX PRODUCTS
SEPHORA SLEEPING MASK & AURELIA CELL REPAIR NIGHT OIL*: I tend to use overnight products when I feel my skin needs that extra bit of TLC. Whether it's when I'm feeling more dehydrated than usual or simply just a stressful day at work, I feel it's important to recognise when your skin needs an additional treatment. The Sephora skin masks have a cooling, cream-gel formula which is ideal for those who aren't so keen on waking up with an oily residue on their face. Each one is infused with a different active ingredient and there are so many to choose from, all focusing different skin problems. However, if you do prefer using an oil based product, the Aurelia cell repair night oil is the perfect alternative. An intensive overnight treatment designed to firm and tighten the skin for younger and healthier looking results. I've been using this as a treatment around 2-3 nights a week and it has been working wonders to my skin.
THE ONE FOR EVERYTHING
ELIZABETH ARDEN 8 HOUR CREAM: One of those staple multi-use products that everyone should have in their stash. Whether it's chapped lips, dry skin, spots, burns (the list goes on), this could quite possibly be the cure for anything your skin may experience. I purchased this to use as an overnight lip treatment in the winter but I've also found myself reaching for it in the warmer seasons too and whenever I have any blemishes or problematic areas on my face such as redness around the nose. It has a very thick balm-like texture which means you only need the tiniest amount, but it really does work wonders. The only downfall about this product is the fact that it has a really unpleasant scent, so I'll probably go for the fragrance free option when I repurchase.
