As most girls would probably agree, perfume plays a huge part in our daily routine and is the cherry on the cake at the end of getting ready which gives us that instant confidence boost. I've always been interested in discovering new scents and adding more to my collection and feel that perfume is one of those items that is always worth the buy no matter how high the price tag, as not only does it last such a long time, but it also has the ability to create memories of certain periods of your life which is my absolute favourite part. Although perfume is a tricky one to write about, I'm going to attempt to describe some of my favourite scents from my collection with you all today. Here it goes...
Sì is relatively new to my collection but is already up there as one of my all time favourites as it's so unique compared to any scent that I've owned before. Sì is 'chypre' scent which is a term used to describe the contrast between fresh, citrus notes and deep woody or mossy hints - and is also the reason why it is quite intense but also soft and sweet at the same time. It combines a gorgeous blend of fruity top notes (Sicilian bergamot, mandarin oil and liqueur de Cassis), with those girly floral heart notes (Rose de Mai, Neroli and Egyptian Jasmine) and warmer, musky base notes (Patchouli Oil, Blond Woods, Amber, Orcanox and Vanille Absolute). If you like your perfume to be quite light, then this may not be the one for you, but honestly, give it a whiff.
The original Alien fragrance is one of those iconic scents that everybody recognises and also has the ability to instantly uplift my mood whenever I wear it, which is why I was so eager to try out the new addition as soon as I heard about it. Whilst it still has that gorgeous distinctive Alien scent to it, I would say this as a lighter, sweeter and more of a daytime version of the original. Eau extraordinaire is a blend of Tunisian neroli and bergamot tea enriched with Tiare Flower and white amber, which gives it that sense of elegance and luxury.
My boyfriend bought me this last Christmas and I've adored it ever since. It's such a strong, long-lasting and womanly scent with bold personality, yet dainty and fresh at the same time. Coco Mademoiselle is a blend of fruity top notes (orange and grapefruit), with middle notes of Jasmine and May-Rose and deeper base notes of patchouli, musk and vanilla which are all mixed together to produce the most classy and sophisticated scent. Not only do I love this fragrance for the obvious reasons, but it also has so many memories behind it too.
This is an extremely girly, light and fruity fragrance. It features top notes of pink grapefruit and raspberry sorbet, heart notes of pink hibiscus and honeysuckle and base notes of marshmallow and white amber - which makes it an all round sweet and youthful scent. Although I'd say this perfume is perfect for teenage girls or even as a first perfume, I still absolutely love it as it has such an uplifting and energetic feel to it.
I must say, I wasn't too sure about this at first but it has definitely grown on me, although it's probably one of the fragrances I reach for the least. Said to possess molecules that stimulate the hypothalamus, the part of the brain responsible for attraction and lust, Loverdose is a prime example of a floral-spicy scent. Loverdose incorporates a blend of fruity top notes (star anise and mandarin), with heart notes of Jasmine, licorice and gardenia petals and an oriental base of amber, vanilla and wood notes. When you first spray this, the spicy wood notes can be quite overpowering, but the longer it has to settle on the skin, the more it begins to smell a lot more fruity.
This is such a unique and distinctive scent and I'm yet to find anything quite like it. If someone is wearing Alien, you'll know about it as it's one of those iconic scents that most people have, but it's that amazing that you won't care about smelling like everyone else. It's quite a rich, heavy scent so great for the evenings, but at the same time it's such an intriguing and soothing scent that you'll want to wear it during the day too. It combines a sexy and irresistible blend of citrus hints mixed with top notes of Jasmine, heart notes of cashmere wood and spicy musk running through, whilst finishing off with a soft blend of vanilla and white amber in the base notes.
I can't begin to explain how amazing this smells. It holds a very secure place as my all time favourite perfume and is one that I'd even consider wearing on my wedding day (not that it's gonna be anytime soon). It's such a long lasting, classy and feminine scent and is one of the only scents that I can still smell on myself once settled. Although it has a hefty price tag to go with it, there's no doubt in the world that it isn't worth every single penny and I would happily buy this over and over again. Narcisco Rodriguez for her combines a gorgeous blend of floral top notes (honey flower, orange blossom and osmanthus) mixed with heart notes of amber and vanilla, and base notes of tactile musk, woods and vetiver for that added subtle elegance. I would highly recommend this if you're not a fan of strong floral or fruity scents.
Another one of my current favourites. This is a really creamy, warm and seductive night time fragrance that I find myself reaching for whenever I get glammed up for a date night. Infused with notes of amber, sandalwood and musk and a finish of fruity orange, mandarin and white florals, this is a clean and fresh scent that is perfect for the colder winter nights that are now upon us. Sexy Amber has quite an effortless feel to it which although doesn't require a lot of sprays, is still extremely long lasting and not overpowering in the slightest.
My summer scent. If there's any scent that reminds me of being on holiday, then it's this. And if you haven't been lucky enough to smell it yet, then you're seriously missing out. With a blend of bergamot, warm amber, tiare flower and sweet hints of vanilla and coconut, this light and exotic scent is one that everyone needs in their collection. Admittedly, it isn't the longest wearing fragrance I own but it will always be one of my favourites. There's a full review here if you'd like to know a little bit more about it and why I love it so much.
As you can probably tell by the bottle, this fragrance holds a large percentage of floral notes. It's another one of those youthful, light and energetic scents that can be used all year round. It has a blend of fruity top notes (pink guava and mandarin) followed by middle notes of tuberose and lotus blossom for that added touch of floral scent and finishing off with base notes of precious woods, sheer musk and vanilla. This is a great daytime scent.
Do you have any of these in your collection? Are there any others you would recommend to add to mine next?
