After the huge amount of hype and recommendations surrounding this foundation, I decided it was about time that I introduced it into my makeup collection. Whilst shopping with my friend last week, I popped into my local House of Fraser store and had my skin tone matched up to choose the perfect shade for me, which was Ivory Beige.
I was given a 10 day sample to try out but as impatient as I am, I wanted to buy the real thing straight away! It's hard for me to believe that I've never tried this foundation before as I can honestly say that it's one of the best foundations, if not THE best foundation that I've ever used. This is the matte of all matte foundations, so if you're looking for something which provides full, long lasting coverage then this is the one for you. I've been using a few different brushes to apply it just to work out what one is the best as it does have quite a thick consistency and I can imagine it being tricky to apply if you're not equipped with the right brush. The one that has worked for me the most and has given me the best results is the Zoeva Cosmetics silk finish brush which came in my Zoeva Rose Gold Luxury Brush set (reviewed here).
I was a little sceptical about trying this at first as a lot of people recommended I tried the Mac foundations for a full coverage, matte finish but I just found that they either dried out my skin completely or gave me a sudden outbreak of spots. I can't even begin to describe how different this is... It has all of those amazing features (the full coverage, the matte finish, the 'a little goes a long way' effect) but with none of the negatives attached. Although the coverage is absolutely insane, you literally need the tiniest amount and it goes so far and lasts all day. When I say all day, I mean ALL day. I was actually shocked at how flawless my skin still looked in the evening after a whole day of being in the sun.
I expected it to feel cakey on the face purely due to the thick consistency but it feels the complete opposite - it actually makes my faced feel refreshed and as natural as it looks. As you can probably tell, I'm pretty much in love with this foundation and I can't believe this is the first Estée Lauder product I've tried. With the price tag of £29.50, it's not the cheapest foundation around but I truly believe that spending that little bit extra gives you so much more than what a lower range product would so I feel that it's completely worth the buy. Not only is the product itself amazing and a definite everyday staple, but the metallic navy packaging and the frosted matte bottle makes it look extra expensive and luxurious too. Since trying this, I've added so many more Estée Lauder products to my wish list, including the Advanced Night Repair Serum and the Bronze Goddess Skinscent which smells absolutely incredible! The vanilla and coconut combination make the most perfect summer scent that has been haunting me ever since I decided not to buy it on the same day. Nothing haunts you more than the things you didn't buy.
Have you tried this foundation before? Are there any other Estée Lauder products you'd recommend?
