As much as my younger self would disagree and advise me to pile on all of the matte powder [two shades lighter than my skin tone], there's nothing better than catching a glimpse of the light hitting your cheek bones and feeling like an original glazed Krispy Kreme donut. Creating a bright and glowy finish that enhances my natural complexion rather than masking it is what I usually go for when applying my makeup in the mornings. I thought I'd share my current favourite glow-getters that help me achieve that bright and radiant look.
FENTY BEAUTY INSTANT RETOUCH PRIMER: After applying moisturiser in the mornings, priming the skin is an important step to take when looking to achieve the desired glowy finish that lasts all day. The Fenty Beauty Pro Filt'r primer is great for every day use, as not only is it lightweight and feels refreshing on the skin, but it also adds a very subtle shimmer that contributes toward the end result. It allows for an easier application of my foundation too as I've already got that smooth base to work with and leaves an almost airbrushed look to my complexion.
PIXI FLAWLESS BEAUTY PRIMER: This primer is definitely a lot more intense in comparison to the Fenty one and also feels a little thicker when applied to the skin which is why I tend to save it for those days that I'm in need of a longer-lasting glow. It's a lovely bronzed pink shade that adds a shimmery effect to my complexion without looking too shiny. It can be worn alone or mixed with a moisturiser as a brightening product on those lazy days, but can also be worn underneath foundation to create a flawless effect.
MUA GLISTENING AMETHYST POWDER HIGHLIGHT: The MUA highlighters are seriously underrated and this one has been one of my favourites for a number of years. It's the most beautiful iridescent, almost unicorn-like purple shade that has insane pigmentation and lasts all day, without fail. I try to save this for when I'm going somewhere extra fancy as it can be a little too intense for every day use, but sometimes I just can't help myself as I don't have any other highlighters like it. And for just £3, you can't really go wrong.
ICONIC LONDON ILLUMINATOR DROPS IN SHINE: I don't usually go for liquid highlights but these little drops are something else. If you're looking to create the ultimate glazed donut effect, I would highly recommend trying these out. They're extremely versatile as they can be used alone or mixed with your primer, moisturiser or foundation to create a beautiful, dewy finish. For every day use, I'll dab a couple of drops onto my cheek bones with my finger and work them into the skin with my beauty blender. But if I want to achieve something a little more intense, I'll use these as a base for my powder highlight as they make everything look 10x more vibrant.
FENTY BEAUTY KILLAWATT FREESTYLE HIGHLIGHTER: Fenty Beauty is slowly making it's way up there as one of my favourite high-end brands and this product is one of the reasons why. The powder duos are so finely milled but extremely creamy and apply to the skin like a dream, even when built up to make the higher parts stand out more. This duo in particular includes 2 pearlescent options - a soft and subtle daytime shade, as well as a more shimmery evening shade. I love how these are multi-functional and can be used as eyeshadows too.
