A Well Needed Bedroom Makeover

March 28, 2015

Last month, I was off work for a couple of weeks and really wanted to keep myself feeling productive and busy whilst I was at home instead of feeling bored all day. I've been wanting to re-decorate my bedroom and move it all around for god knows how long now but just haven't had the time to do it which was why this was a perfect and probably my only opportunity to just get it done.

The whole process was admittedly quite stressful for someone who has never done it before, yet rewarding challenge for myself as I'm very impatient and wanted it finished as soon as I started it, but in the end I looked at what I had done and felt extremely proud of myself. The first couple of days were the boring jobs... Clearing out the room to make space, stripping the wallpaper, filling in any gaps or holes that I had made whilst stripping (there were quite a few, not gonna lie), sanding them down and of course, the painting. I decided that I wanted to go for a white themed bedroom (milkbubbletea was my main inspiration) so I popped into b&q and picked a lovely off-white colour named 'Cotton Flower'. I then spent the next few days buying my furniture and accessories which was definitely the more exciting part. I went onto the IKEA site and ordered a few new bits of furniture including a new bed, 2 storage boxes to go underneath, a bedside table and a small chest of drawers so I could get rid of any clutter that was on show and then I went ahead and ordered all the accessories to go with it all (bedding, a throw, pillowcases, fairy lights, lamps, candles etc).

I'm pretty much in love with my new Leirvik Bed Frame from IKEA as I wanted something different to the plain and boring beds I would usually go for and this was definitely different. The indoor fairy lights from Not On The High Street woven through the top make it look even more like a princess bed and since I've had it all made up, I've hardly even left it. The white cotton pinched bedding is from Next and I also found these amazing big spoon and little spoon pillowcases for me and Tom from a website that I can't for the life of me remember. (I'll link it once I've found it). The bedside table is from the IKEA Malm range and was only £25!!! Amazing. This also matches the long chest of 6 drawers and the dressing table that I bought last year. I also spotted this beautiful owl lamp from Dunelm on milkbubbletea's blog and fell in love with it... It looks perfect with the white walls. Lastly, I added a few little finishing touches to make it look all girly - my Pretty Honest book and my favourite Yankee scent, soft cotton which makes my room smell as fresh as it now looks.

My mum came home with some beautiful flowers in different shades of pink as a 'well done' for what I had achieved all by myself, which I have put on top of my chest of drawers. I get so excited when I receive flowers... Am I getting old?

What do you think of my new bedroom? Is there anything else you would like to see?
