I'm one of the worst people for popping into Boots on my lunch break with the intention of buying a meal deal and packet of baby wipes and coming out having spent about £30. I just can't go into any drugstore and buy just one thing which is probably an addiction that you have to face being a beauty blogger. With the release of any new products there's always that little devil in your head telling you that you NEED to buy that foundation and that lipstick in every shade.... You just can't resist. I've also noticed that I've spent a lot of time writing blog posts on high end products such as Mac & Benefit and not enough posts on drugstore products with a much cheaper price tag, which is why I wanted to share my current favourite drugstore beauty favourites with you.
SOAP & GLORY DRAMA CLEAN 5IN1 MICELLAR CLEANSING WATER: Soap & Glory are one of my favourite brands for skincare and bath products, so it's always an exciting moment for me when I spot something that I haven't tried before. I've had good and bad experiences with Micellar waters - I've found some have been really good for my skin whilst others have been the complete opposite and given me an allergic reaction... But I didn't wanna rule them out altogether. I've always classed them as a much easier and refreshing alternative to a face wipe as they tend to do more than just 'remove' your makeup, which is great when you don't fancy going through 3 face wipes and being left not feeling completely satisfied that your makeup is completely gone. The Soap & Glory cleansing water includes ingredients that are designed to get rid of any makeup, dirt and dead skin cells, Vitamins A & C rich peach and goji berry extracts to help soften skin, cool cucumber water juice for refreshing and revitalising the skin, cornflower extract to calm the delicate eye area and aloe vera leaf juice to moisture and soothe the skin. As you can imagine, this makes your skin smell and feel amazing and for just £5.00, I think it is well worth the try.
BOURJOIS HEALTHY MIX FOUNDATION: This has to be THE best drugstore foundation that I've ever tried, no joke. I was a massive lover of the Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation previously but feel that this is definitely the one for me. It just does everything that I could possibly wish for in a foundation and I've had so many compliments about my skin since using it. It has an amazing lightweight consistency which can also be build-able and it provides a complete full coverage on the skin getting rid of any blemishes and bags under the eyes which means that sometimes I don't even feel the need to reach for my concealer anymore. Whenever I apply this in the mornings, my skin feels so awake and refreshed and it provides a natural glow that lasts the whole day. It also smells gorgeous (like apricots, melons and apples) which reminds me of the summer.
SLEEK BLUSH BY 3 IN PINK LEMONADE: I have so many of these palettes in so many different colours and I literally can't rave about them enough. For just £10, there are 3 beautiful full sized blushers included which are extremely pigmented and perfect for that extra bit of colour 'pop' on the cheeks. There's a choice between cream, matte and shimmery blushers (I tend to go for the matte and shimmery shades) but the Pink Lemonade palette is definitely my favourite as it includes 2 shimmery pink shades as well as a creamy pink shade in the middle. Other than my Benefit Hoola bronzer, I don't ever use anything different on my cheeks as I feel that these are 100x better than any blushers that I've tried in the past. Read my full review on the Sleek Blush by 3 palettes (here).
TOPSHOP NAIL VARNISH IN MILKSHAKE: I'm not sure whether you'd class Topshop as a drugstore brand? But I'm just gonna include it anyway as I would say the products are around the same kind of price as drugstore products. I've always loved Topshop nail varnishes (along with most of their makeup to be fair) as they're so vibrant and long lasting which means you don't need to add hundreds of layers to your nails to make the colour show up. I picked up this beautiful pastel pink colour for Easter and I've been in love with it ever since. I think the pastel shades are gonna be lovely with a tan in the summer too.
COLLECTION 2000 LASTING PERFECTION CONCEALER: If you're a blogger, you would've definitely heard every girl and their rabbit rave about this concealer. It was Zoella that influenced me to buy this the most as she described it as one of her staple makeup products and at such a low price too, it was something I needed to try. I've never usually relied on concealer, it's never been one of those makeup products that interested me but since using this I feel like I've definitely been missing out! You could pretty much carry your shopping in the bags that I have under my eyes most mornings so this is perfect to apply on top of them along with other yucky parts of my face such as spots. It provides full coverage and conceals flaws and blemishes throughout the whole day.. Every girl needs this in their makeup bag.
MAYBELLINE LASH SENSATIONAL MASCARA: It's very rare that I find a mascara that I have nothing bad to say about, but I honestly can't fault this in any way. Even just one stroke captures every single little eyelash that I have, making them look fuller and adding the perfect amount of volume. My eyelashes look and feel so much longer and more defined whenever I use this mascara, even without the use of eyelash curlers! I've also found that I haven't really felt the need to wear fake eyelashes much anymore since finding this little baby.
RIMMEL EXAGGERATE LIQUID EYELINER: I picked this up just as a replacement for my holy grail Collection liquid eyeliner as it was out of stock in Superdrug, but if I'm honest, it's pretty much the exact same product but just a little bit more expensive so if I had the Collection one, I would've added that in the post instead. I use liquid on the top of my eyelids every single day and the thin felt tip is perfecttttt for winged eyeliner. This is an extreme black shade which lasts throughout the day without the need of any re-application.
TOPSHOP LIPSTICKS IN INNOCENT, NEVADA & THE DAMNED: If you follow me on Instagram or have read some of my previous blog posts, you've probably noticed that I'm obsessed with lipsticks. I've probably bought 10 lipsticks already this month which I really don't need but they're just so pretty, I can't resist. Topshop lipsticks are only £8 each which I think is an amazing price for the quality that you get. My 3 go to shades at the moment have been Innocent (a dusky medium bubble gum pink) which I've been using every day for work, Nevada (a really pretty beige/nude colour) which goes with pretty much any makeup look and The Damned (a deep wine red/purple colour) which is something different to the shades that I would usually go for. I love the fact that Topshop have such a wide range of colours to choose from but I'm sure my bank balance would disagree. Read a full post on my Topshop lipstick collection (here).
MUA PLUMPING LIPGLOSS IN CANDY PINK: This is one of those products that are always in my handbag. I've tried a few of the shades but Candy Pink is my favourite one as it comes out on the lips as more of a clear gloss with a tiny hint of lilac/pink. I tend to use it on top of my lipstick rather than on its own, just to give my lips that little extra bit of plump and shine.
MAYBELLINE GEL LINER: If you're looking for an eyeliner to use on your water line, this is absolutely perfect and lasts all day. It's a completely different consistency to a pencil or liquid eyeliner so there's no stinging or watery eyes involved. The gel like formula comes with a little brush for application and all you need to do is dab it in the pot and stroke onto your eyes. I've repurchased this so many times now and the tiny pot lasts for months!
