Whenever a new season is approaching, there are 3 ways that I like to prepare myself accordingly. Number 1 - giving my bedroom a good old sort out. Going through my drawers and throwing away any beauty, hair, skincare or bath products that have been well loved and passed their life span. Number 2 - Adapting my wardrobe to whichever season this may be. This includes treating myself to new staples and selling/putting away and items that I won't be wearing for a while. Number 3 - Organising and switching up my beauty stash ready for the months ahead. This usually means purchasing new weather appropriate products and putting the ones I'll be reaching for the most on display in my Muji drawers. I thought I'd show you which products I have chosen as my Spring beauty transitions this time around.
BOURJOIS HEALTHY MIX SERUM: Along with the healthy mix foundation which is one of my favourite drugstore products, the healthy mix serum is a perfect Spring appropriate base. It works well with the skin when it's oily, but also helps give that extra boost of moisture when it's feeling a little dry. The gel-like formula is different to a standard foundation which is what intrigued me the most. This isn't the foundation for someone who is after a high coverage as it's purely designed to create a natural, radiant looking finish. Perfect for those warmer, subtle makeup days.
MAYBELLINE ERASER EYE CONCEALER: Being an avid lover of the collection lasting perfection concealer for years, I thought it was time to push the boat out and try something different. It's safe to say that I'm so glad that I did as this does more for me than any concealer that I've used before. It's extremely light on the skin but still gives a flawless cover under the eyes and completely masks any dirk circles and imperfections that are definitely not welcome to my face.
NARS EYESHADOW DUO - ALHAMBRA: This is one of my favourite eyeshadow duos for creating that natural, every day eye look which is perfect for the Spring/Summer seasons. It contains two shimmery shadows in a rose gold and a champagne tone which are both extremely wearable base shades. If you've tried any Nars shadow before, you'll know that they have a creamy and insanely pigmented formulation which transfers to the lids in a breeze.
MAC QUAD EYESHADOW PALETTE: When choosing the shades to go into my Mac quad, I went for ones that would be wearable all year round, which means that this isn't strictly for the Spring time. Saying that, the shades 'Naked Lunch' & 'All That Glitters' are both amazing for creating a natural look. I was quite late at joining the Mac eyeshadow bandwagon, but now I know why everyone talks so highly about these shadows. They are amazingly pigmented and there is honestly a shade for everyone somewhere in that massive range of theirs.
TOO FACED SHADOW INSURANCE PRIMER: Admittedly, I'm not one of those girls that relies on a primer to make a difference to my life, as from personal experience, it never has. But after hearing so many great things about the Too Faced shadow insurance primer, I thought I'd give it a whirl. I've been using this as my base before applying eyeshadow and I've definitely noticed a difference. Not only does it help towards a long-lasting eye look, but the formulation is great and it has a lovely gold tint to it which makes it possible to be worn alone. This product is perfect for the warmer seasons to prevent makeup melting off my face, because we all know that isn't a good look.
HOURGLASS AMBIENT LIGHTING PALETTE: I couldn't write this post without including my beloved ambient light palette now, could I? I feel like this product always manages to make an appearance in my posts, but that's just because it's incredible in so many ways. It contains 6 amazing multi-use products: a pale beige that can be used all over the face, two shimmery highlight shades - a baby pink and a champagne/gold, two blushers and a honey toned, glowy bronzer. Each powder is finely milled, incredibly buttery and soft and lightweight on the skin and can assist towards any look you are wanting to achieve. Basically, this palette has your back.
MARY-LOU MANIZER HIGHLIGHTER: Another insane highlighter that does the job at a much lower price tag. There was so much hype over this product that I wasn't entirely sure what to expect. There have been times when I've purchased products purely from their reviews and they've let me down, so I'm always hesitant when it comes to spending money on something that I've not tried before. But, I'm so glad I took the plunge as I couldn't live without this product now. When I first tried it, I found myself adding so much to my cheek bones that my face started to resemble the moon, but I've slowly mastered the technique and realised that a little really does go a long way. I absolutely love the look that this gives, it just completely accentuates my cheek bones and gives the most amazing glow to the face.
TOO FACED BETTER THAN SEX MASCARA: You're probably bored of me mentioning this mascara in every blog post I've written, but there is a valid reason for this. With the packing being enough to entice anyone into buying, the product itself doesn't disappoint either. This is the mascara that assists towards any desired makeup look. Whether you're wanting to create a natural look with only a few strokes to add length to the lashes or you're after a more dramatic evening look with a few extra layers, this is the one that will fulfil any of your needs.
