I'm all for trying out new skincare products, especially when I've heard so many amazing things about them, so after running out of my favourite Origins GinZing moisturiser and being advised that the Body Shop Vitamin C glow boosting moisturiser was an impressive dupe for it, I decided it was time to give their new range a little try.
Believe it or not, this was my first ever Body Shop order - so although I wanted to go crazy and order one of every item on the website, I decided to stay sensible and just go for the products that I've been interested to try out for a while now just in case I wasn't keen for any reason. I ordered 4 items which added up to just over £50, those being; the Vanilla Body Mist, Fuji Green Tea Body Butter and of course, the Vitamin C Instant Glow Enhancer and Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser which are both such amazing products. Focusing on those with dull, tired and grumpy skin, this little orange two-some was exactly what I needed in my skincare routine, especially as I'm far from a morning person and sometimes need that extra boost. If you're a big fan of the Origins GinZing moisturiser but prefer a lighter, gel like texture or maybe just find it a little too pricey, then let this duo be your next purchase. The lightweight, water based moisturiser aims to do 3 very important things to your skin; to energise, hydrate and to boost glow (much like GinZing).
The Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser is perfect for all skin types, but imaginably even better for those with dry and dull complexions as it gently hydrates the skin whilst giving a natural and noticeable glow to the face. Not only does it absorb immediately leaving the skin feeling refreshed rather than greasy and oily like some moisturisers do, but it calms and cools the skin whilst helping you to feel more awake when massaged into the skin with the fingertips. In comparison to GinZing which admittedly is still there in my heart as one of my favourites, I find that although the Body Shop version has a much thicker texture, it is the most perfect daily moisturiser as it doesn't interfere with any makeup being applied over the top (with some you can literally feel that extra layer underneath) - whereas with my Origins moisturiser, I would use it in the evenings before bed as it took just that little bit longer to absorb. Both moisturisers have that amazing citrus, orangey zest which I absolutely adore in my skincare as it automatically makes me feel clean and revitalised - although I would say that GinZing has more of a chocolatey orange smell and Glow Boosting literally smells like fresh oranges (I haven't decided which one I'd prefer to smell like yet).
Moving onto the Vitamin C Instant Glow Enhancer, this little product is your one way ticket to bright and silky skin in a quick and easy step after your moisturiser has been applied. I have to say, I was shocked by the peach coloured cream that came out of the tube as I wasn't quite expecting it to be that colour or even that kind of consistency, but after applying it and seeing how much difference it made to my overall look, I was definitely reassured. I've recently experienced that peach tinted products are designed to erase signs of darkness and colour correct the skin (you could carry your shopping in the bags under my eyes at the moment) which is why that this was an extra step that I massively needed in my routine. Not only does this product moisturise and brighten the skin, but it also helps to give you an even and smooth complexion ready for the application of your makeup - much like a primer does. I personally wouldn't use it in place of my primer (I'm currently using Benefit's Porefessional) as I like mine to be translucent, but it definitely leaves the skin feeling super soft and silky in preparation for my foundation which is exactly what everyone needs. If you're looking for a simple solution to uneven skin tones without the use of bronzers/concealers, the Glow Enhancer is just as good when used as a standalone product. A pea sized amount is all that is needed to create that youthful and natural looking complexion with the added bonus of a sun-kissed glow.
Overall, I absolutely love both of these products and will definitely be splurging out some more on the Body Shop website very soon. You can buy the Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser here for £16 and the Vitamin C Instant Glow Enhancer here for £15 which I think is a really reasonable price for both items. There are so many more products that I want to try so I would love it if you could recommend some of your favourites!
Have you tried anything from the Vitamin C range before? What do you think of these two?
