As much as I love splurging on high end beauty products from my favourite brands, I sometimes feel that we don't talk enough about the drugstore bargains from the likes of Boots, Superdrug etc. In my opinion, there are so many lower end and much cheaper brands that are completely underrated and when it comes to their products, a majority of the time they are very similar, if not even better when compared to some of our high end favourites. It's actually amazing how much money I have saved just by experimenting with different brands and products that haven't made me feel guilty or broke the bank - which is why I thought I would share 10 of my favourite drugstore products that you can get your hands on for under £10!
Starting with the base, one of my all time favourite foundations is the Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation (£9.99). It has an amazing lightweight consistency which can also be build-able and it provides full coverage without feeling heavy on the skin. My skin just feels awake and refreshed after applying this and it gives me instant glow that lasts all day. It smells absolutely gorgeous as well which is an added bonus! Another one of my favourites that also provides full coverage is the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer (£4.19) - this beats any high end concealer by far. If you're looking for something that conceals flaws and blemishes and completely gets rid of any dark circles under the eyes, then you really need to try this.
Glowy skin is a must have for me, so I can be very fussy when picking out a highlighter that suits me. I like to go for the champagne gold toned products as they go a lot better with my skin tone compared to the pink toned ones. This MUA Undress Your Skin Highlighter (£3.00) is the bargain of all bargains and will be one of the best drugstore highlighters you've ever tried. It has a lovely, fine shimmer which can be build able as well as looking lovely with minimal application. (Full review here). I'm also loving these Rose Gold Eyelash Curlers (£2.00) which are really good quality as well as the fact that they're rose gold which is a reason to buy them in itself.
When it comes to lip products, as you all know I am a huge MAC fan and I think it's hard to compete with their amazing lipsticks - but thereare a few products that I turn to when I'm feeling something a little different. Topshop lipsticks are a great alternative for someone whose not willing to splash out £15.50 and they are a very close match when it comes to quality. I own over 20 Topshop lipsticks but the one I reach out for the most has to be the shade 'Innocent' (£8.00) which is a gorgeous soft baby pink and so wearable as an everyday lip colour. The Maybelline Color Drama Lipstick in 'Nude Perfection' (£4.99) is also up there as one of my favourite drugstore lip products as it has a lovely, creamy texture that lasts on the lips all day. This is a really good dupe for MAC's Velvet Teddy but for a quarter of the price! Talking of dupes, Kiko's Smart Lip Pencils (£2.50) have a very similar texture to MAC's and are ridiculously pigmented too. I picked 3 of these up just to give them a try, not thinking they'd be that great as they were so cheap but honestly, they are incredible! The '715 Periwinkle Violet' is the perfect match to my MAC 'Up the Amp' lipstick.
Moving on to the eyes, one item that I constantly repurchase from Boots is the Collection Fast Stroke Liquid Eyeliner (£2.99) as I'm yet to find anything better. It's so easy to use, lasts all day and has a thin felt tip that is PERFECT for winged liner. For under a fiver, it's well worth giving it a try! When it comes to my waterline, I like to use a gel liner as it tends to last a lot longer than liquid. The Maybelline Gel Liner (£7.99) has a smooth gel like formula and comes with a little brush for application and all you need to do is dab it in the pot and stroke onto your eyes. The tiny pot literally lasts for months too! Another Maybelline favourite of mine is the Lash Sensational Mascara (£7.99) which I've gone through so many of now as I just love it so much. It's very rare that I find a mascara that I feel does everything I could ask for - it makes my lashes look longer, thicker and fuller whilst adding the perfect amount of volume. Well worth the try.
